Week 28
This was an exciting week for me. Not only did I start my third trimester, but I was also surprised twice in one weekend!!! I was invited to my friend Megan's housewarming and her boyfriends 30th birthday down in Puyallup. Granted we haven't seen each other in a year, she found out I was pregnant, and I found out she was engaged. I had met Rob before at a previous Xmas white elephant exchange, and he seemed like a great guy; I was actually surprised that hadn't dated earlier. So, she not only is dating him, but is getting married at the beginning of July. I'm sooo happy for her, but also a little sad b/c I may not be able to make it to her wedding. I guess we will see!!! :) On Sunday, I was surprised with a baby shower thrown by some of my closest neighbors. It was great!! I kind of had an idea they were up to something, but had no clue it would be this early, so they definitely surprised me for sure. We started with a nice breakfast and chat with the latest on how everyone has been doing. Then we played a quiz where Drew had been given some questions about how I would answer. It was mainly like how well to our neighbors know us from due dates to possible name choices...even some funny ones. I answered all but one correctly! The second game was a cute idea but really difficult for everyone. A covered basket was passed around with baby items and we had to guess what they were by feeling around the basket without looking. These items were all plastic baby toys, so it was super difficult, b/c it wasn't the real thing. I think out of 12 items the most someone got was 6....it was quite amusing though. Then, the last game was for the neighbors to share a story or song that they used or they remember from their childhood. Hannah started by telling an original story and showing us some handmade drawings. I was really impressed because she's really young, and she used full sentences and said grown up words like "delighted." Amie read the Belly Button book...she has read this to me once before and it's so funny the way she reads it that it always brings tears to my eyes from amusement. Next Mina sang a Chinese song that her mom used to sing to her when she was a baby. She can definitely sing...a hidden talent I did not know about. Suzanne went next singing Brown Bear Brown Bear, which was a really cute book. Amie's mom, Jan, read a rabbit book that came with a little rabbit puppet...it was a cute book!!! Next, Sue sang a Chinese song about a little girl in the garden. She brought a doll prop with her and was rocking it back and forth; you can tell she's had lots of practice singing that to her grandkids. Finally, Carrie shared a story on how you can get a childs attention with colors and sounds, and then read a book. It was a nice personal touch. We had cake and ice cream and then they presented me with a card with a gift card from the Pottery Barn kids. I was shocked, because it was somewhere I didn't register for, but definitely has some nice things. Drew and I looked at the website and of course didn't agree on anything, so I guess we will have to hold up on the shopping until we see what we get from the other showers. I wanted to shop right away since he won't let me buy anything for our baby right now. I guess it's good to save, but sometimes I can't resist when I see a cute little outfit. Another personal touch with the shower was Amie had asked my mom and Drew's mom to send some baby pictures. It was nice to see baby pictures of me, since I haven't seen them in so long. I found out that I was not bald until I was 2, just didn't have a lot of hair. I was cracking up after I saw the pictures of Drew, b/c he was born weighing 9lbs, 1oz so all the pictures of him he looked quite large. He was a cute baby, but boy after seeing how big he was...it scares me a little. So, the weekend was good and now it's back to the work week for 3 days, and then I'm off to Virginia on Thursday morning to see my mom. Kelly and my mom are throwing me a baby shower this Saturday. I'm very excited. More to come after I get back from Virginia!!!
